FIBER–OPTIC VIDEO BRONCHOSCOPY:
The most comprehensive latest and finest video bronchofiberscope
system of Olympus (Japan) has been added to the diagnostics
of our department. The Fiber–Optic Scopy is of prime diagnostic
importance in cases of lung cancer, tuberculosis, hemoptysis,
and intrabronchial lesions. We can directly visualise the lesion
and videotape the whole procedure for review, or we can take
still pictures of the lesion with a specialised camera.
Fiber-Optic Scopy can also be done on an outdoor basis
CRITICAL CARE UNIT:
We have a battery of modern ventilators (Bennett and Siemens)
in the Hospital I.C.U. Trained Medical and Nursing Staff in
consultation with the Pulmonary Department provides round the
clock services to patients on ventilators, of the following
categories:
• Patients suffering from respiratory failure
• COPD
• life threatening Bronchial Asthma
• ARDS
• Pulmonary Embolism
• Post C.A.B.G
• complications needing ventilatory support.

The installation of state-of-the-art pulmonary function laboratory
of Jaeger (Germany) – world-class equipment which provides
data of all lung functions like
• Ventilation Studies
• Diagnosis of Bronchial Asthma and Chronic Bronchitis
• Static Lung Volumes
i.e. FRC, RV, TLC and RV/TLC ratio for the diagnosis
of Emphysema and Airtrapping
• Lung Compliance
The diagnosis of early Pulmonary Oedema in cases
of Coronary Artery Diseases and Mitral Valve Disease.
• Airways Resistance
For quantifying the extent of Airways Obstruction
in Bronchial Asthma using an extremely simple and
latest technique.
• Diffusion Studies
This information is of utmost value in the diagnosis
of pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary oedema and in lung
involvement in cases of rheumatoid arthritis and other collagen
vascular diseases.
