The
Department of Nuclear Medicine comprises of two sections
• Nuclear Medicine Imaging, popularly known as Isotopic
Scans
• Radio Immuno Assays (RIA) to estimate the amount of
hormones and other substances in the blood
Equipment
Details.
Imaging (Isotopic Scans) is carried out with
state-of-the-art Siemens Diacam
Gamma Camera System, interfaced with an advanced
computer capable of creating tomographic slices and other quantitative
information.
Routine scans are carried out like Thyroid, Bone, Liver, Renal,
Gall Bladder and advanced studies like Myocardial Perfusion
scan using thallium and other compounds.
The RIA equipment includes the semi-automatic RIA counter interfaced with a computer for the final data reduction. The department
carries out estimation of thyroid hormones, gynaec hormones
and tumour markers.
