List
of services
The AKD department was opened in 1974 with
two Artificial Haemodialysis Machines, and 3 additional
machines added in 1978.
CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) commenced for
haemodynamically unstable patients in 1990. The Reverse Osmosis
plant for the complete purification of dialysate fluid was installed
in 2002. One dialysis machine was installed in ICU.
The department also has CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Treatment)
therapy machines (BM 25 Baxter) for bedside dialysis by CVVHD
(continuous venovenous haemodiafiltration) for critically serious
ICU patients who are on ventilators with fluid overload and
hypotension.
The Cadaver Renal Transplant was another highlight of 2002.
Three successful retrievals paved way for another seven kidneys,
obtained from other hospitals, benefiting ten patients in a
span of two years followed by one more sucessful retrieval and transplant in 2006.
Equipments
The newly renovated department named - "Kunjlata
& Ramesh Chandra Dalal - Dialysis Centre" is equipped
with a total of ten state-of-the-art volumetric fully computerized
