Dr.Balabai Nanavati Hospital – Heart Institute (NHHI) is a unique and dedicated institution of Cardiac Care, which has achieved a perfect balance of clinical capacity and aesthetics. It occupies an approximate area of 20,000 sq.feet on the 1st floor of the main building. It offers comprehensive diagnostic work up and latest treatment facilities for a wide range of Cardiovascular diseases. It has independent invasive and non-invasive cardiac units.



Invasive Cardiology
A state of the art catheterization laboratory is one of the busiest lab in the city which performs an average of 3000 procedures per annum. It offers primary angioplasty’s for acute myocardial infarction, angiographies, PTCA by drug eluting and bare stents, peripheral vascular interventions, paediatric interventions such as ASD, VSD, PDA, Balloon Valvuloplasty for the Mitral, Aortic, and Pulmonary stenosis, Arrhythmic  evaluation and treatment in form of EP study, RF ablation, permanent pacemaker implantation etc.

The lab is ready to meet any emergency round the clock with more than twenty leading Cardiologists with vast experience in India and abroad.


Non Invasive Cardiology

The department is equipped with non invasive cardiac screening facilities in the form of
2-D Echocardiography with Doppler and Transesophageal probes, Dobutamine Echo, Computerized Treadmill Stress Test, sophisticated Holter monitoring and Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

It performs an average of 6000 investigations per annum

Intensive Cardiac Care Unit

It comprises of 19 beds for medical as well as surgical care. They are fully equipped to handle all emergencies.
It has facilities for emergency ventilator care, bedside pacing, sophisticated bedside and central monitoring system and intra aortic balloon pump.
The state of the art ICCU offers 1:1 medical care by specially trained Nurses with Intensivists and Registrars at all times.
It has 15 step down and 10 day care beds. All medical and surgical requirements are supplied by the NHHI from its own Pharmacy.

The department has supported its blood bank with facilities for providing blood components such as platelet concentrate, fresh frozen plasma and packed cells.
The Laboratory and the Physiotherapy departments shoulder major roles for constantly analyzing cardiac supportive investigations and enabling patients to achieve a faster and smoother recovery respectively.

CARDIOVASCULAR AND THORACIC SURGERY

Cardiac Surgery

The NHHI has two dedicated cardiac operation theatres carefully designed for international norm of safety and sterility, and they are located opposite the Cath lab.
Differential pressure units in the operation theatres maintain the high pressure to avoid contaminated air and installation of hepa filters, UV cabinets and UV shower provide additional protection to maintain a bacteria free environment.
Theatres are well equipped with latest developments in modern technology to enable to perform adult and paediatric surgeries, CABG, Off pump CABG, valve repair and replacement, complex congenital heart surgery for neonates and infants and vascular  surgeries are routinely performed.

The Institute has country’s renowed surgeons with their own trained teams providing patient with a comprehensive and committed service.

We perform regularly between 500-600 cardio vascular surgeries in a year.
