In May 1951, the Hospital’s very first patient stepped over its welcoming threshold.
A Harijan, he was treated completely free in the Hospital, the first of a long line of the less fortunate who have found in the hospital a haven of warmth, comfort and release from pain. This has been in harmony with the wishes of Mahatma Gandhi who was among the first to give his blessings to the Hospital when still in its gestation stage. The Hospital is situated strategically and conveniently connected to main highways and roads as well as to Public Bus Depots and Railway Stations.
Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital is the only medical facility of its kind in the Western Suburbs, providing ultra modern, sophisticated medical and surgical treatment, to all persons irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
Since 1950 of its existence the Hospital has continually evolved from a 50 bedded Hospital located in a single building, to over 5 buildings housing 400 beds and offering a plethora of services in practically every field of modern medicine and health care. Today over 200 consultants supported by hundreds of nursing paramedical and technical staff runs its 52 departments.

Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital has a fully computerized transaction for patient care. The Hospital has updated its infrastructure by building a new OPD which systematic and conducive for patient care. Recently, the hospital has renovated the main Operation theatre with high tech facilities like HEPA filters, laminar flow imported contort panel, closed circuit, camera and music system.

Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital has conducted a recognized General Nursing and Midwifery diploma programme in Nursing (General Nursing & Midwifery ) since 1951 over six decades.
In the year 2010 the institution has upgraded itself and we now offer female candidates a Basic B.Sc. Nursing programme. The programme has an annual intake capacity of 40 students. The graduates of the programme over the year have excelled in academics, co-curricular and extra curricular activities and clinical practice.
College of Nursing Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Science, Nashik and is duly recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Maharashtra Nursing Council (MNC).

The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of Higher secondary school certificate Examination (12 years course). OR Senior School certificate Examination (10+2) /pre degree Examination (10+2) |

An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or University with Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English) With minimum of 45% aggregate marks for open candidates & 40% aggregate marks for reserved candidates (PCBE) passing one at the same time. |

Admission Procedure
Basic B.Sc. Nursing students are selected through CET conducted by AMUPMDC (Association of Managements of Unaided Private Medical & Dental Colleges) and the test examination is known as Associate CET. Head of Association is located at off Mezzanine floor, Shreeja House, 75 Mint Road, Fort Mumbai 400 001. The admission process controlled by the Director of Medical Education Govt. of Maharashtra Pravesh Niyantran Samiti. However management has the right to admit 15% of students which is usually on the basis of merit. |
