HISTORY
The very first patient to be admitted to Nanavati Hospital
was a man from the Harijan community he was treated free of cost,
the first of a long line of less fortunate people who come to
the hospital for their medical treatment.
This spirit is in harmony with the wishes of Mahatma Gandhi who
was among the first to give his blessings to the Hospital when
still in its gestation stage, and who had expressed his hope that
the Institution would serve and aid people from every section
of society.
Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital has grown from a 50- bed facility
in a single building, to over 5 buildings housing 400 beds, and
offers a plethora of services in practically every field of modern
medicine and health care. Today over 172 consultants, ably
supported by a large nursing, paramedical and technical staff,
run its 44 departments.
Presently, it is managed by a team comprising of Shri Jagdish
C. Nanavati as a President, Shri Suresh R. Nanavati as a
Chairman and Shri Priyam S. Jhaveri as Vice Chairman.
