The iconic Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital carries a luminous legacy. The hospital was founded by Ratilal Manilal Nanavati in memory of his grandfather who was the physician to the royal family of Gaekwads.

In 1950, the hospital was inaugurated by India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Mother Teresa inaugurated the cancer centre and brought the first child for treatment to Dr. Balabhai Nanavati Hospital. This marked the beginning of a long and lasting relationship between her and the hospital. The nuns of Asha Daan regularly bring ailing children to the hospital for medical treatment. The underprivileged children are treated free of cost receiving the same quality of medical care.
From being a 50 bed facility in a single building, to over 5 buildings housing 352 beds, we offer a plethora of services in practically every field of modern medicine and healthcare. Nanavati today has over 300 consultants, ably supported by a large nursing, paramedical and technical staff, running its 50 plus departments.
